Somewhere Over the Rainbow

“Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby,
Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.”
– Lyrics by E.Y. Harburg.

The deepening violet clouds spread like wild fire across the gray sky as the winds made a fierce entrance. You could smell it through your nose. You could feel it in the air. A storm was heading our way fast. Ready to take cover inside, I rallied up my dog Shadow to move from the backyard into the safety of our house. Within minutes, lightening and thunder made their arrival bringing the rain crashing down.

As quickly as the storm came, it went. The winds quieted down with the rain dropping to a light drizzle. Curious to see if more were to come, I looked outside my patio. And there it was… a beautiful, majestic rainbow.

The mystery and wonder from seeing a rainbow leaves us breathless and enchanted. It’s no wonder they’re used as symbols of beauty, promise and enlightenment in all different types of mythical stories, cultures and religions.

From Christianity in Genesis 9:13 to the Rainbow Bridge of lost pets, from our beloved classic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to Native American initiations, from magical stories of leprechauns to unicorn toys for little girls, rainbows carry a special meaning speaking straight to our heart and soul.

Rainbows are God’s way of showing His love while letting us know He is always here. They’re like big, upside down, colorful smiles from God.  He’s reminding us when we are in the midst of a thunderstorm there is always a rainbow on the other side. It’s a sacred message to have faith and hope brighter days are to come. If your days are gray and dark, be strong and believe the rainbow will appear filling your life with color and beauty once more.

Seeing a rainbow also gives a message to follow our hearts’ desire and passion while being true to ourselves. When living in alignment with our soul’s purpose, a spiritual awakening and transformation is ready to open up within. God blesses and supports our journey giving us strength and opportunities with the hope we can create miracles making our dreams come true.

It’s no coincidence you’re blessed with seeing a rainbow. This powerful message from God tells you to stay on your true path with perseverance and gentleness. Once you reach the end of the rainbow, you will be blessed with the pot of gold filling your spirit with joy and exhilaration. Take in the natural beauty and breath in the vibrant colors of the rainbow. Allow it to nurture and soothe your soul for a magical future is in store for you.
